Why is fundraising movie screening Saturday at 6:oo?

Many of you have reached out asking why we chose a 6pm screening time on Saturday October 5th for Running Wild with ROSA?

Here are the main reasons we chose this date and time to screen the film.

“Running Wild” is premiering nationally on Friday October 4th and the cast and crew will be in NYC that weekend for the opening.  Our goal was to take advantage of bringing the cast together for this  special event to support ROSA and we needed to work around this date.

First, we need to be respectful of the theatre’s obligation to their movie distributors who require first run movies to be presented on the weekends at prime time.  This local gem of a theatre must stay in business, and they need to honor their contract with their distributors. We had to schedule the movie so that the theater was available for regular movies by 8:00pm.

Second,  on Sunday October 6th, the theatre has a long standing commitment to another event so we could not schedule the theatre on Sunday.

Third, the October 5th weekend is the only time the Music Songwriter and Main Character are in town for the national opening and press events in NYC.  As the Director of ROSA and the film Running Wild, I specifically wanted all of you to have this special opportunity to meet Dayton Hyde, someone who has fought his entire life for the planet and inspired me to create ROSA.  This was also a chance to celebrate while listening to the wonderful music of west coast based award winning composer Steve Poltz.

We realize many of you may have conflicting schedules on Saturday October 5th but we do want to be inclusive and we want everyone to share this wonderful opportunity to meet this inspirational man.  So to accommodate those with conflicts due to religious observance* as well as those who can’t otherwise make the 6pm movie screening time, we have created a third ticket option at a reduced price for just the after event and concert which begin at 8pm.  The movie is being released nationally and we hope you will take advantage of future opportunities to view it on your own.

As always, thank you for your support of ROSA and I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday October 5th.

Regards,

Suzanne Mitchell

(*) We recognize there are limitations for some due to religious dietary restrictions. We are consulting with friends in the community to see how we might be able offer some limited refreshments in a designated area.  We want everyone to feel welcome.

  1. […] To further support ROSA and for a really special evening please make a larger tax-deductible donation for a Screening/Fundraiser combo; after the screening,  join the ROSA team for a cocktail party event* where you will get to meet ROSA director/founder and the film’s director,  Suzanne Mitchell with special guest, Dayton O. Hyde. The after party will also feature a live performance by the film’s soundtrack composer and award winning singer-songwriter  Steve Poltz.  Suzanne remains dedicated to ROSA and is excited to share a film that not only inspired her but will inspire countless others to make an effort to save our natural environment. Tickets for the film and this event are available for a $95 donation and tickets for only this event are $85. […]
