On October 29, 2024 the Town Board introduced a new local law with no explanation and no supplemental information and scheduled a public hearing for 11/19/2024 at a Town Board “Special Meeting”.
The proposed new Local Law is designed to create a new floating zone allowing developers with 10+ acres of land to propose whatever kind of development they like subject to whatever zoning regulations they like subject to a minimum number of maximum provisions that allow for residential density anywhere in the Town of Ramapo to be increased to a level that can readily surpass 50% of the highest densities in all of Ramapo and include other mixed uses as well.
At the Town Board meeting of 11/19/2024 with only 3 of the 5 board members the supervisor open the public hearing and provided no additional information at all, declined to answer questions asked, and adjourned the public hearing to January 15, 2024 at 7:00pm.
