The next public hearing on the Millers Pond Rezoning for the former Minisceongo Golf Course will be on Tuesday January 14, 2025 at 7:30pm at Town Hall.
On March 13, 2024 the Town Board approved the rezoning local law and the Planned Unit Development (PUD) Plan for the Millers Pond development with a brand new set of zoning regulations that essentially replaces all that is in Ramapo Zoning Code.
Neighbors on all 3 side of the development have challenged the rezoning in Supreme Court for failure to do environmental review on the PUD rezoning local and PUD plans among other claims.
The developer submitted his Phase 1 plans to the Planning Board but before it ever made it our of CDRC to the Planning Board, a last minute rush application – the likes of which has never been seen before – had the developer submitting an entirely new “site plan” solely related to just the tree cutting for the site.
After neighbors showed up at the first hearing on December 17th challenging this site plan and asking the Planning Board to wait until after it has considered the development site plans themselves, the developer claimed it was scaling back to just clearcutting for Phase 1. On Tuesday there will be a continuation of the public hearing on this revised site plan.
ROSA opposes this clearcutting site plan because it violates the State Environmental Quality Review Act which makes clear that no clearing can take place before SEQRA on the whole action is concluded. Please support the neighbors and good land use practices.
