Meet ROSA – Open House Tuesday 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Last Sunday (June 9) ROSA had a table at the REACH Foundation Fun Run at the Torne Valley Sports Complex. At this wonderful gathering we were thanked profusely by many of the attendees who saw us there while others still had never heard of ROSA, or even the Patrick Farm. We realized that we really needed to organize another Meet ROSA event and quickly before the summer.

To best serve those who are simply looking for updates as well as those who need a longer introduction to the issues, ROSA is holding an open house format meeting on Tuesday evening 6/25. Please come for 10-30  minutes. Please help us get the word out.

To be effective ROSA needs broad community support. To earn the community’s support everyone needs to understand what this fight is about, how ROSA has been involved, understand the successes to date, and understand the strategy going forward.

This is a complicated issue that has been underway since 2009. In November of 2011 ROSA joined the fight to find and use the truth to enforce the law. The Town of Ramapo continues to support this ill-conceived, massive, high density housing project but their approvals are based on lies, poor planning, with aspects of the plans actually breaking town laws; this arrogance will be their undoing. If we let the developer and the Town of Ramapo continue unopposed by being passive, we deserve what we get.

When we learned about this we knew we needed to get involved.  We have all experienced the detrimental effects of over development on our streambeds, the increased traffic, the increased flooding, the extreme loss of trees and the shift of community character.

You may be concerned that this is a “done deal” but it’s not! While various legal cases move through the courts, ROSA has done an outstanding job uncovering the truth regarding jurisdictional issues. Armed with the truth ROSA finally managed to get various agencies to put the brakes on this project. There is a lot of amazing news to share but too much for this letter. It is important to point out that the trees are still standing and this is in large part due to ROSA’s effort to scale back this mega development. Now we are asking for your help in paying legal and expert bills. Get involved by donating and joining the ROSA email list.

If you are unfamiliar with this massively controversial development project and ROSA’s work, now is the time to learn about it. Please visit the ROSA website to learn more, call 646-470-ROSA or, better yet, come to the next Meet ROSA event; the next meeting will be held at:

Where: Montebello Community Center – 350 Haverstraw Rd, Montebello, NY

When:   Tuesday June 25th,   7 – 9:00p.m.

What:   Open House. ROSA will hold an open house meeting where we can present information to people who are unfamiliar with the current situation or update those who want the latest news. Short presentations will be scheduled throughout the session. Plan to stop by anytime for 10-30 minutes to meet the team that is fighting to save the value of your home.
