Public Hearing is Open to Written Comments thru Jan 30 5:00pm

The Journal News did a great post Public Hearing article that summarizes the meeting held on January 16, 2013. The public hearing is still open to written comments until 5:00 pm on Wednesday January 30th.

Overall the key message that ROSA and various speakers raised was the astonishing lack of time to prepare responses for the meeting given that the majority of the materials being submitted to the planning board after various agencies had responded to the resubmission of exactly the same set of drawings even though the planning board required changes in their first submission and there has been all manner of back and forth on drainage and the dam with the DEC and the county drainage agency.

If you are interested in commenting further on the Patrick Farm project you still can but the comments should be limited to issues related to certain keys issues. The planning board said that all issues related to public health and safety can be covered but the town has narrowed that and other topics to a published list: 2013-01-18 Definition of Written Comment Parameters

We appreciate being copied on all submissions! And yes we are still writing further comments.

We will posted prior comments already submitted in this space later this weekend.

If you are interested in other documents related to this public hearing please check out the prior articles from our News & Events page.

  1. Do we really want a densely built-up Rockland County? Is that really necessary?
[comment shortened here by ROSA editor]

Is this a symptom of how we as a species are overrunning the earth and it’s resources? unthinkingly… for immediate profit for a few to the detriment of most?
Is this the kind of legacy we’re leaving for our children?
Are we not better than that?
Are we not more intelligent than that?

  2. The construction proposed on the Patrick Farms site will exacerbate the flooding issue already in effect to the Squires Gate residents. Both the Ramapo and Mahwah Rivers are prone to flooding with the arrival of any storm system, no remediation to this issue has ever been accomplished. Four homes in this community have been ear marked for removal from Hurricane Irene. The continued building above this area has been and will be the reason honest citizens are subjected to property loss and adverse health conditions. Respectfully, Roy Tschudy
