ROSA volunteers were peddle to the metal getting stuff submitted by the November 26th deadline for comments for the Patrick Farm Completed Applications (see our earlier post for more information) by November 26th.
Less than 2 weeks later the decision was announced – the DEC told the developer that a public hearing was required!!
ROSA represented the community by accomplishing the following:
- Researching the applications, comparing the application to the plans submitted in November of 2011 for final approval and creating a letter pointing out that the application focused on only a small fraction of the areas under DEC oversight.
(2012-11-26 ROSA Comments on Patrick Farm DEC Application) - Organizing letters from the local village boards. Montebello, Wesley Hills, Pomona, and Airmont wrote in requesting that the public be given an opportunity to voice concerns and submit arguments.

- Senator David Carlucci (2012-11-26 NYSDEC Carlucci Patrick Farm Hearing)
- Working with the ROSA attorney Zarin & Steinmetz to submit the legal arguments for requesting a public hearing. 2012-11-26 Z+S to DEC for ROSA
- Getting 1077 Signatures on the petition to the NYS DEC asking for a public hearing. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO SIGN!!
The great news is that the DEC did not go ahead and immediately approve the permit application as they could have but rather they ordered the applicant to organize a public hearing and to give the public at least 21 days minimum notice of the public hearing.

This is really wonderful news and there is still much to prepare. We will be filling everyone in as we get the details.

Have we not learned from Mother Nature this year with all the natural disasters she had put upon us and other parts of the world??? All we are doing is building without proper protection and over crowding this little place. This is greed and that is all it is for the builder. We suffer the consequences in the future. Stop building! We’ve torn up this area enough!
